I always have an amazing experience at Silver Street! The blonde waitress is extremely personable and very very nice! Food was prepared quickly and was delicious! The bald bartender made the best couple drinks I've had! I would recommend Silver Street Tavern to anyone looking for an organization with a friendly staff and great food! -Blane G via TripAdvisor
My wife and I have a place about 25 miles from Waterville and we were in Waterville to go to an outlet place. We walked by, looked in the window, and it was crowded! We went in and got a table by the window. At this time they have happy hour every day so that is awesome. I ordered the Hippie Chicken Salad sandwich and it was unlike anything I had tried before. Thumbs up! The waiter we had also works in the kitchen and he provided excellent service!! He was friendly, conversational, and kept our beer and water filled. This is a great local pub and we will be back! -TravelSaxaphone via TripAdvisor
This restaurant is a favorite spot for whenever we are visiting our daughter at Colby College in Waterville ME. The staff go out of their way to accommodate any special diet issues. We could not ask for better service nor personalized attention. My personal favorite items are the fried calamari appetizer, a "lamburgini" (the best ground lamb burger on the planet!!), the southwest avocado burger and the cubano (a roast pork sandwich that is to die for). And, I heartily recommend their sweet potato fries. The selection of local micro-brews is very good. Toss in a nice selection of wines, a few hard ciders and just about everyone's tastes get covered. The parking is plentiful, free and just across the street. The choice of Silver Street Tavern is just too easy. -TallPyne via TripAdvisor
Our friends mentioned how much they enjoy this tavern's happy hour and food so we stopped in. Glad we did, it was a nice evening sitting out everyone friendly and laughing. They had a nice selection of specialty cocktails, wines, and brews as well as apps and snacks. Lobster Mac and cheese one of the best! The wait staff were all friendly and upbeat. We wish we had restaurants like that in our area. Do try!

The service is excellent! I had the "wrath of Charlie" drink and it was excellent. I had the wedge salad, which is better than anywhere else I have had it, and the Cajun chicken wings, that were dry seasoned, not just covered in sauce. I chose to have pub food but the menu includes many more nice dinner selections. This tavern has a nice outside patio area as well as a nicely spaced inside with a bar to sit at with large screen tvs to watch sports. Definitely my go-to spot in Waterville.

2 Silver Street has been a centerpiece of downtown Waterville since its construction in 1877 and has been designated as an Historic Structure by the National Park Service. It was originally home to Waterville National Bank, then served as the Waterville Post Office at the turn of the century. In the 1920s, following its first major renovation, it became home to Giguere's Clothing Store, hence the ornate "G" on the beautiful stained glass windows. In the early 1970s, a second major renovation transformed the first floor into the landmark restaurant known as the Silver Street Tavern. A recently completed major renovation restored the upper floors to historic standards and the building received the 2015 statewide Historic Preservation Honor Award.
Growing up only blocks away, I remember the crossfire of opinions in the early 70s as the beautiful and scantily clad lady was hoisted to the corner of Main and Silver Street to provide signage for the newly opened restaurant. As time passed, the naysayers soon grew to appreciate the artistry, and the beauty of the mysterious woman. Who she is, we do not know. However, we do know that this timeless lady is a symbol of downtown Waterville at its finest moment and we welcome her back to our city. -Charlie Giguere, Owner
